Berean Church is a confessional reformed baptist ministry that was begun in February of 2003. We are passionately committed to the absolute authority and sufficiency of God's written Word, the Holy Bible. Standing upon that firm foundation, we believe and teach that God's grace alone obtained through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone is the only way to find forgiveness for our sins and to escape from the wrath of God that is to come. As an accurate (though not infallible) expression of our interpretation of Holy Scripture we fully subscribe to the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689. In April of 2009 our church became formally connected to other sister churches of like precious faith through the Association of Reformed Baptist Churches of America (ARBCA). We are also honored to be a charter member of the Georgia Association of Confessional Baptists (GACB) which was constituted in March of 2010. We would love to have you join us for worship this coming Lord's Day. Berean presently has two elders, and you can read about each of them in the paragraphs below.

Jerry Slate, Jr. was raised in a godly Christian home, the youngest of three children.  He was converted to Christ in December of 1977 as an eight year old child and grew up attending a solid Bible teaching Southern Baptist Church.  After graduation from high school he studied for the pastorate at Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University), graduating in 1991 with a B.A. degree having majored in Bible and minored in pastoral ministries.  Under the influence of several of his professors the seeds of the Reformed faith were sown in his heart, leading him to ultimately embrace Calvinisitic, covenantal, and credo-baptistic theological convictions.  In January of 1993 he married his wife, Angela, and together they have six children:  Samuel, Luke, Graceann, Jackson, Malachi, and Margaret.   In November of 2002 Jerry was ordained for the gospel ministry and worship services were begun on February 2, 2003 for the formation of Berean Baptist Church, where he has served as a bi-vocational pastor for ten years.  Jerry presently serves on ARBCA’s RBMS committee and is the chairman of the GACB Administrative Council. Jerry’s interests include spending time with his family, reading, biking, hiking, and camping.

David A. Harris Sr. was raised in a non-Christian home. He was converted to Christ by God’s grace at the age of 18. He studied for the ministry at World Evangelism Bible College in Baton Rouge, La., and Holmes College of the Bible in Greenville, S.C., majoring in Theology and minoring in pastoral ministries.  In the years since that time David has come to fully subscribe to the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689 as an accurate expression of his interpretation of the truths taught in Holy Scripture.  He has almost a decade of pastoral experience, having labored in the gospel ministry in a church located in Rome, GA.  In 1988 he married his wife, Teresa, and the Lord has blessed them with five children:  Elisabeth, David Jr., Jonathan, Hannah, and Abigail.  David and his family became members of Berean Baptist Church in January of 2011, and by unanimous consent of our congregation David was installed as an elder of our church on September 30, 2012.
